We bought this really cool house in November. And of course, we decided it needed to be updated and remodeled. And like always (this is our 5th house, all have been built new or remodled) once we started we saw more and more things that needed to be done and more that we wanted to do. These first few pictures were taken right before we moved in. They are of the outside of the house.
And this is after......much better....it is still in progress.

The masterbedroom has a sitting room that is attached to it. When we were moving in all of our furniture didn't fit into the bedroom so we had to place some of it in the sitting room. With only a doorway in between them we felt it was strange to have some of our furniture in what felt like a seperate room so we decided to open the wall up here too and make it feel like one big room. We are going to have hardwood floors in here so we will "section" it off with rugs to make the seperate sitting and bedroom areas. This is before.....

And after....

This is the halfbath in the foyer. That is as far as the door would open ...it ran into the vanity. We took the vanity out and will put a pedestal sink in which will solve the door problem. It will open all the way. This area will also have wood floors.
oh and of course the nasty wallpaper is going...haha..

This is just for an idea of what the tile looked like. Not sure why anyone would put tile in a house like this but they did...green tile with green grout at that.....ewww....

All the tile is gone and will be replaced with 8" plank Red Pine wood floors....the kind you have to sand and stain and sand and stain....omgoodness I'm already cringing thinking about the mess!!!

And more ugly wallpaper....

This is the master bathroom. There was a wall between the vanity area and the toilet/shower area. The bathroom felt really small and cramped so we took the wall out and now it feels so roomy!! This is before (ugh...nasty wallpaper...it will be coming down too)...

8" Plank Red PINE floors...not oak. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool house!! WOW you are really doing a lot of work on it! I can't wait to see the finished product:)
ReplyDeleteThe house seems really great! I love how woodsy it seems. Where is it located? Just getting rid of the wallpaper and new floors will totally transform it!
ReplyDeleteI love how the door runs into the vanity! It looks like you guys are really making progress with the updates. =)
ReplyDeleteYes the house is very woodsy...sits on 4 1/2 acres of woods with a creek running along behind the house!! I can't wait for the kids to get older so they can build forts in the woods and play in the creek! Anyway....Ash, the house is right around the corner from my parents on Spillers Road. I love being 2 minutes away from them.
ReplyDeletewere the Thompson's previous owners by chance? It has been about 12 years since I babysat for them in a house that I think is similar if my memory serves me right.
ReplyDeleteYep they built it and the Knowles' bought it from them and we bought it from them.
